In November 2023, Micah was promoted to Marketing Content Specialist of the College of Computing (GCCIS) at RIT.

  • Partnered 1:1 with the Director of Marketing to develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies, ensuring brand alignment and fostering community engagement through innovative print and digital media (e.g., brochures, social media, newsletters, event branding).

  • Led First-Year Experience initiatives, including the inaugural Ambassador Program, event planning, and Discord community management, improving student engagement and retention by fostering a strong sense of belonging.

  • Mentored student employees, providing strategic guidance and adapting workflows to align with their career goals, such as incorporating motion graphics into social media strategy.

  • Managed email marketing operations, segmenting 5,000+ contacts into targeted lists, optimizing communication efficiency, and training team members on the Emma Corporate Email Tool.

  • Liaised between the Director of Marketing and departmental Marketing Coordinators, ensuring timely delivery of content that meets quality and brand standards while conducting training sessions to enhance team proficiency.

  • Reinvigorated the college’s marketing efforts, crafting a modern visual and narrative style that embodies RIT’s values and resonates with diverse audiences, earning recognition as a College Staff Excellence Award nominee.

Micah began working as the Marketing & Student Experience Coordinator for the School of Interactive Games and Media at RIT in August of 2022.

They work doing the following:

  • Create and distribute promotional content for departmental communication to over one thousand students via social media, email newsletters, and traditional marketing

  • Develop and implement an annual communication plan for the school detailing event timelines, actionable marketing strategies, and any external collaboration

  • Monitor and update webpage content related to the School to ensure accuracy and relevancy of information

  • Collaborate with College and University Marketing divisions to ensure relevancy and a cohesive brand identity to students, alumni, and external partners

  • Mentor team of 20 student ambassadors to provide structure and feedback in areas of project and event management, marketing, and leadership

  • Utilize analytics and insights in combination with best practices and emerging trends to optimize strategy and content and maintain audience engagement

Planning the 2023 Expo was an invigorating experience. I got the opportunity to closely collaborate with RIT faculty, alumni, our community partners, and current students to promote the celebration of our students’ work. Everyone came together for the common goal of student success and we achieved a remarkable event.
